Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel needs no introduction, as the founder of the world famous designer brand CHANEL. As well as branching out from a more casual approach to clothing back in the 1800s, to handbags and jewellery, her signature scent, Chanel No.5 has become one of the most iconic fragrances of all time. ‘The little black dress’ often has Chanel influences in mind and is another iconic wardrobe staple for every woman. The Chanel label has also given the fashion world box-cut bouclé jackets, the trusted Breton t-shirt, camellia brooches and pyjama styles.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Chanel‘s first ever store in Deauville, France; Karl Lagerfeld has directed a short film starring newly-wed actress, Kiera Knightley to play Coco Chanel herself. The Coco Chanel film named Once Upon a Time, aired for the first time on the 8th of May in Singapore. Kiera Knightly plays the character of the designer, who is focussed on opening her debut store set back in 1913. The film was shot in Paris and Karl Lagerfeld has taken to his role of the Director very well. ‘Karl Lagerfeld stage manages the actor in a truly direct way‘ says Kiera Knightley, who is star of the short film. The pair worked well together and Kiera despite only been given the script just moments before filming was said to deliver her lines better than everyone else and that’s coming from the Chanel perfectionist himself, Mr Lagerfeld. The film also stars other Chanel ambassadors including Lindsey Wixson, Tallulah Harlech and Clotilde Hesme.

My Top 5 Summer Style Essentials ♥

Summer is here! Oh actually it’s still raining and in some parts of the country there are even warnings of snow…crazy! Either way, the season is here and if we keep ourselves style ready the sun will be back again in no time. I know we are fully clued up on the summer trends for this season; monochrome, masculine tailoring with a feminine twist, summer black and the ultimate trend guide takes us through all of trends for this season.

Even when following and adoring the latest trends, every year during the Summer season I find myself in the same style essentials, must haves for the Summer so let me share ♥

McQueen Scarf

‘A scarf is to a woman what a necktie is to a man, and the way you tie it is part of your personality.’ Christian Dior, 1954

Scarves add instant glamour and sophistication to a summer outfit, they can add colour to a simple outfit, incorporate on trend prints, provide a cover up if it gets chilly and keep your hair in place when cruising with the roof top down. I love picking up scarves when shopping on holiday, mixing so many great textures, colours and prints. Scraves are easy to carry in your bag to give an instant splash of colour to an outfit.

Liberty Press Day Scarves

This season, Lily and Lionel,  Gucci, Diane Von Furstenberg, Etro and of course Alexander McQueen have some really iconic and inspiring printed scarves. At the moment I love the printed scarves Zara have in their stores as well as Ted Baker and of course Liberty are known for their arty prints.

Top 5 Summer Style EssentialsSunglasses are the ultimate fashion statement, Victoria Beckham along with a few other stylish fashionistas are rarely seen without their trusted sunnies! Indeed, they do protect our eyes from UV rays and help to glare out the sun but they also help you hide on those bare faced days or when you haven’t had time to get your eyebrows shaped. When it comes to finding the perfect pair of sunglasses you need to consider the shape of your face, hair and skin tones but at the same time have fun and experiment with coloured frames, aviators and big 50s style glamour shades. This season I am loving Michael Kors and of course Gucci for the ultimate glam shades ♥

Top 5 Summer Style Essentials

A simple white vest can go a long way in the Summer, it is an easy wardrobe staple that can be worn over jeans, leggings or tucked into tailored trousers or a skirt. It is a great piece to wear with a bright coloured, printed or heavily embellished skirt or trousers just to break up the style for a daytime look. Over leggings or jeans a white vest looks great teamed with a blazer or jacket in any colour or print and then added your trusted friend the scarf ♥

Top 5 Summer Style Essentials

A statement necklace is another instant glamour fix, it can change your look and style but yet can sit alongside so many emerging fashion trends. Your outfit could be be as simple as a white vest over black skinny jeans but add a statement necklace and you’re ready for a dinner date! At the moment I am loving the statement necklaces that Zara have, they definitely have the best on the high street and don’t forget to look back at some great pieces you may have forgotten about. I am always finding old statement necklaces and rekindling the love ♥

Top 5 Summer Style Essentials

Finally, the ultimate Summer shoe has to be a nude one, complimenting your skin tone and making your legs look longer.  Whether they are wedges, flat pumps, red-soled, high-heeled or both! Every stylista needs a nude pair of heels (and flats!)  for the Summer ♥

Top 5 Summer Style Essentials

So there you have it, whatever your style or favourite trend and designer make sure you have these 5 Summer style essentials to get you through the season for an effortlessly chic look and ultimate glamour ♥

Beauty Style ♥ Birds of Paradise come to Dior

Beauty Style ♥ Birds of Paradise come to Dior

At Paris Fashion Week last year, the Dior models walked down the runway with splashes of bright colour across their eyelids, makeup that manifests itself as Spring’s ‘techno-butterflies.’ Bursts of bright eye shadows were dragged across eye-lids and accessorized with Swarovski crystals and lots of them. There was then a hint of a colour infused make- up collection being launched in the near future, but then for the Couture collection there was no bright eyelids insight and instead bejewelled lips…leaving us wondering.

In his early years as a designer, Christian Dior explored visual and cultural brilliance beyond Latin America and Europe, becoming his forthcoming inspiration and signature style. He often used luxurious fabrics such as silk and organza, vibrant colours and feather-like features in his designs, representing his global interests. Using femininity and glamour, taking inspiration from tropical paradise, shimmering waters and the most exotic birds Dior once again takes us on a journey through Latin America but this time through the world of beauty.

Beauty Style ♥ Birds of Paradise come to Dior

The new Bird of Paradise Collection for Summer embraces the admiration Dior has for colour making it versatile and wearable with a large colour palette from emerald greens and aqua blues to golden bronze and blush pinks. Peacock feathers seem to be the main focus for colour for this collection which is split by day and night. For the day, there is Glowy Exotic and for the night it is all about Wild Feather.

Beauty Style ♥ Birds of Paradise come to Dior

Introducing new summer beauty essentials while keeping our Dior favourites the Bird of Paradise make-up ranges consists of 5 eye-shadow shades all in different hues of aqua, turquoise and emerald green with a shimmery coating. A nail varnish duo appears the two shades of a peacock feather, emerald green and turquoise. Sun-kissed bronzed summer skin is highlighted with a nude tan coral glow bronzer and pink glow blusher set, the Dior Addict Lip maximiser comes in a glossy apricot and the range introduces the launch of the Diorskin BB cream in a suncream version. The range is completed with the Diorskin Nude Tan light powder and bronzing powder available in six different shades along with everlasting and waterproof Diorshow Liner.

The gorgeous and exotic collection launches exclusively at Harrods on the 3rd of May with nationwide launches from the 17th of May. Birds of Paradise come to Dior ♥
